At Barbrook and Bleakhouse I have created two distinct pieces of similar proportion and scale to each other and their stoops. The stones lay on the floor and share a directional point that indicates movement to an undisclosed destination. They are to be walked around, to be read and looked at from the top and the sides. Both stones are inscribed with simple graphics and typography, echoing the poems starkness. With the designs I wanted to create something simple, unusual and sophisticated and the typography and the marks reflect this. They also remind us of our time, the time of industrialization, while harking back to ancient civilizations, of language and communication.
